Midorikawa Pop-Up at Nepenthes London

From Thursday 27th February until Friday 14th March, Nepenthes London will host a pop-up exhibition from Midorikawa showcasing a new project exploring ‘Tradition & Punk’ as the theme.
This event will mark the first time Midorikawa has been shown in the UK. The brand is the work of Taku Midorikawa, a graduate of the Bunka Fashion College. Taku aims to create memorable and inspirational pieces, characterised by his artisanal approach.
The project showcases both Midorikawa's unique philosophy and exceptional craftsmanship. Midorikawa was inspired by the long history of the balmacaan coat — a staple of British fashion for many years. The dignified heritage of this iconic style has been deconstructed and reworked into several stunning handcrafted pieces showcasing the progressive approach of Midorikawa.
Alongside the pieces created for this pop-up, several garments from Taku's archival collection will be on display.
Tomoki Takaso, press representative for Midorikawa and representative of VELVET, a well-known vintage store in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo, will also be supplying a wide range of distinctive vintage pieces from VELVET, chosen specially for the event.
All works shown during the exhibition will be available for purchase for the duration of the pop-up.
The exhibition will begin at 17:00 on Thursday 27th February at Nepenthes London, and will run until Friday 14th March.
