Bedford Jacket – Olive Heavy Ripstop Cotton

The Bedford Jacket by Engineered Garments sits on the border between a dress jacket and chore coat.

The removable buttons are fastened with metal ringlets, a reference to designs made for factory workers who may not have had the time or skill to sew on replacement buttons.

Another sign of the jacket’s utilitarian nature is the top stitching on the front of the yoke, along with additional stitching on the front and side of the body. Commonly found on uniforms and workwear, additional stitches on stress points allows for greater durability, increasing the lifespan of the garment.

However, the elegance of the jacket’s silhouette prevents it from being classified wholly on the side of workwear. The peaked lapel and two-piece sleeves add sophistication to an otherwise casual garment.
