The “Stadium Jacket,” a standout piece in the collection, is crafted from polyester satin with an elegant sheen that refines its sporty silhouette. Signature “Needles” embroidery appears on the front and back, while contrast piping along the sleeves adds definition and visual impact.
Classic varsity details — striped ribbed trims and snap-button closures — are preserved, but the use of lightweight Poly Shantung with a subtle nep texture gives the jacket a more elevated, contemporary feel than traditional wool versions. Distinctive touches, including the PEACE motif on the back, butterfly embroidery on the sleeve, and contrasting sleeves, bring a playful edge to the design.
Often seen as a lighter, glossier alternative to the classic wool varsity jacket, the satin stadium jacket traces its roots to postwar Japanese Sukajan “souvenir jackets.” Originating in Yokosuka after World War II, these jackets were custom-made for American servicemen using satin and parachute silk, featuring embroidered blends of Japanese imagery and American iconography that reflected both military history and personal expression.
