Needles was founded in 1988 by Nepenthes co-founder Keizo Shimizu. At that time, Nepenthes was a select boutique importing US-made clothing. Keizo's love for American style and films inspired the Needles ethos, exploring justapositions of Western and Japanese shapes and fabrics. The brand has become popular around the world with artists, musicians and fashion lovers.
