The smoking jacket's primary purpose was to protect the wearer's clothing from the odours of tobacco smoke, as well as to provide warmth and comfort during leisurely smoking sessions. Designer Daiki Suzuki retains key elements from the original garments that were made such as its short, loose-fitting silhouette and collar.
